Started by father and son, we are a family-operated business, founded in part, so that we can teach our young children about self-reliance, responsibility, work ethic and freedom.  We are proud of our kilted heritage and will always do our best for you!

My name is Robby Wallace, and I grew up in Georgia—a long way from the snow and cold of South Dakota. My family and I first moved to Rapid City in 2010 after I was transferred here for work. Before long, I realized I was chasing a corporate career that came with constantly increasing demands but less and less personal satisfaction.

I've always loved being outdoors—camping, exploring, and working with my hands. I grew up believing in hard work, built my first motorcycle and my first three cars, and have always taken pride in doing things right the first time. Eventually, I decided to put those values to work for myself and started what would become Kilted Lawn & Services. In the beginning, we offered pressure washing only. Since then, the business has grown considerably, and I've come to genuinely enjoy every aspect of what I do.

Along the way, Rapid City and the Black Hills became home. We love this community, and there's something incredibly satisfying about working hard for our customers, spending our days outdoors, and ending the day with the smell of freshly cut grass and the satisfaction of a job well done.

My fascination with our family heritage goes back a long way—from watching Braveheart as a kid to later watching my own kids fall in love with Disney's Brave. We even named our Lab Mor'du.

Over the years, that interest grew into the idea of building a multigenerational family business that reflects who we are and what we value. The Wallace Clan motto, “Pro Libertate” — “For Liberty”, captures much of that spirit. Kilted was built with an appreciation for family, history, liberty, country, and the idea of creating something worth passing on to the next generation.

And because our family influences don't end with Scottish history, I have to mention our two cats: Helena, named after the My Chemical Romance song, and Kronk, from The Emperor's New Groove.

That interest in history and heritage carries into the organizations I support as well. I'm a lifetime member of the Clan Wallace Society and a member of Sons of Norway and George Washington's Mount Vernon. Kilted Lawn & Services is also a supporter of the Commemorative Air Force.
